Programs for Youth

The youth of CFUMC have chosen to follow a program called "Deviate" (DV8) instead of the traditional United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) program that many are accustomed to finding in a Methodist Church. This decision underscores the desire of our youth to follow a path apart from that of mainstream youth of today. DV8 is a program followed in many United Methodist Churches across the US.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing, and perfect will.” -Romans 12:2

Jan Davis is currently the coordinator who leads the DV8 Program at CFUMC. Following are current programs in which our DV8 group is involved:

Meaningful Mondays

Volunteer program that helps the homebound clean up their yards and prays with them. This program is only in progress during the summer months when the youth are not in school. Since inception of this program in 2010, the group has helped an average of 10-12 people each summer. Youth group members who want to help, meet at the church at 9:00 am on Monday mornings so that Jeff Herron, Youth Minister, can escort them to the home of the person in need. For interested Youth, contact Jeff at 205-217-1589 for more information. Also, homebound persons may contact Jeff to get on the schedule to have your project done by the Youth.

Tuesdays (Oct - May)

Guys of Faith and Girls of Grace at 6:00 PM. Guys and gals break up into separate groups for this program and discuss biblical topics and/or current issues facing young ladies or young men in their everyday life. Devotional is presented by one of the Gals/Guys or an Adult special speaker. Contact Jan Davis through the church office for additional information or just fill out one of our "contact Us" forms from the link at the bottom of every web page.

Interested musicians, contact Jeff to try out. Join the youth to hear great modern christian music and worship God together with about 70 young people.

Sunday Night
